Mos was one of my favorite MC's, but dude's whole pretentious act killed his career. He wasn't able to properly build on his moment because he was acting like he had better sh*t to do than be an MC. Sad to say, but it's going to be damn near impossible for him to recapture that magic again.

I think the music comes so effortlessly for him that if he’s not really feeling the vibe of the culture, he gets bored and drifts away and finds other outlets to participate in and spaces to live

If anything Mos Def should have been the next Common (music, acting, hosting, activism, etc) but Mos Def doesn't play politics nor does he schmooze so it would have never been fully realized
