I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. lived there the majority of my life...spent 2 years in Ohio and 6 years in NYC.

I like the north.


Now I'm in Denver and I kind of wish I stayed.

More diversity out in the tri-state.

I've only been to Asheville, NC, and Atlanta, GA for a layover from St. Croix in 1996. And Virginia.

I can't speak on the south.

Birmingham AL has historically one of the highest black populations for forever. Go on and tell us how them folks are doing in regards to crime, poverty, education and racism in the home state of Jeff Sessions

OP its still black folks from down south who move up north. Hell may nephew just moves from Mississippi to Indianapolis after he graduated from college.

Most black folks down south who don't want to move up north. Usually say they don't want to move there because of the cold and being so far from home. I mean it is a shock to never have to shovel snow or deal with temperatures below 30 degrees. To all of a sudden have to shovel snow and deal with freezing cold.

Also the south during the great migration was very agricultural like. But as the decades have passed more Manufacturing has moved down south and there has been more opportunities for black folks post civil rights movement

I'm in Minnesota and I see a lot of South Carolina, Mississippi, and Alabama license plates. Black families.

My mother and dad sides are from the south Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas and only difference is just the White people down south are more straight to the point than the ones up north

Me and my sister are from up north LA and Chicago and my sister lives in NYC and my niece and nephew lives in DC

Southern racism is still bad but it feels.......organic. You can at least see where it came from. Northern racism feels too 'try-hard'.....a bunch of late-arriving unwashed Europeans trying to join Team WASP (Italians, Irish, various Jews, Polish, Greeks, Hungarians etc) so they act extra racist just to fit in.
