Most games are too short – that's why they get traded in, says Just Cause creator

Just Cause 2 fukkery is fun as hell for a minute but it wears off kinda quickly. That's kinda the only fun thing to do is to hook shyt onto other shyt... the rest of its lowkey boring

most games get traded in because they are too fking expensive greedy fking devs, lower your salary and punk publishers lower the price, then maybe your games wouldn't get traded in so often.

I agree but sometime those short experiences can be the best ones. Uncharted is a great game but after you beat it there is no reason to keep it. I wouldn't want developers to stop making games like this, or to think they need spend time adding a bunch of nonsense to try to make the game longer.

yeah, I don't think the issue is so much that short games exist. it just comes down to the question of value: $60 for a game like Skyrim, that you might get 100's of hours from. or $60 for a game you might beat in 8 hours and never play again. how do you compare that? it seems the main strategy to deal with that is to tack on multiplayer. or make an endless number of collectables and such. maybe a better strategy would be to make the games with less content a little cheaper to begin with. that seems to be what happens eventually anyway, when they end up on sale for $20 not too long after release. people are savvy to this kind of shyt, and if they hear a game is short, they're more likely to just rent it or whatever. I'm not sure how the numbers would work out, but maybe people would be more encouraged to buy, if they felt like they weren't getting ripped off

how about you make games that are fun to play. So even after you beat it, after a while you can pop it in and still get enjoyment out of it. Now they focus too much on story not enough game, that shyt only works for RPGS because the games are long.
If I wanted to watch a movie I'll watch a movie
I'm playing this heavy rain shyt now, because it was recommended to me, shyt is already trying my patience

Yeah, I think the biggest issue is the accross the board $60 price tag. Publishers should be able to charge whatever they want for their games. I'd pay more for a game like skyrim especially if the continues to support it for years. Whereas if they charged less for a game like uncharted I think people would be more likely to buy them new. Although I do think publishers should get a cut from used games sales.

more like,

games cost a lot, aren't that good and the sequel is coming out in a year anyway.

A big deal is online gameplay; if a game is a flash-in-the-pan, the online community shrinks after a sequel comes out or after a year...so, if you mainly play online, that goes to hell quick. So why keep it?

Seems like first party Nintendo game don't have a problem with replayability. They just make simple fun pick up and play games.
