Which is why you care about 'lyricism' and are into psuedo deep rappers that don't say shyt. Dudes who are just as dumb and vapid as the mumble rappers.

Bars are for toddlers. Meaningless shyts.

Rhymes are about being poetic. Great rhymes read great on paper because they're

a) clear.

b) paint vivid images.

Part A: If a rhyme isn't specific and clear it's shyt. Being vague in poetry is corny and meaningless. It's a sign that the writer doesn't really know what he/she is talking about.

Part B: If you're not painting a vivid image, your rhyme is either cliche or outright trash. If you're not painting an image at all, your rhyme is trash. If you're painting an image we've already seen before, and your shyt is basically replica, then your image is not vivid. And therefore falls into the 'cliche' category. Perfect example of this is when certain West Coast trash rappers (all Interscope babies :jbhmm:) lean on the "Brenda's got a baby" image (which actually isn't even that original - Melle Mel spit that shyt first, way back*). shyt is beyond cliche at this point.

NO ONE in the new era spits great rhymes. I know you're angry but I'm not a rapper nor your father :yeshrug:

If you don't know yourself, how can you appreciate this?
I can tell you how it happened :wow:
*Melle Mel on New York, New York (1983):
Nine months later, the baby is there
And the nikka that did it said, “I don’t care!”
You don’t have enough money to help feed two
So you have to choose between the baby and you
The sky was cryin’, rain and hail
When you put yo’ baby in the garbage pail
Then you kissed the kid and put down the lid
And you tried to forget what you just did, huh
The muffled screams of a dying baby
Was enough to drive the young mother crazy
So she ran in the rain tryin’ to ease the pain
Huh huh, and she drove herself insane

"And when you see me next time maybe we can further discuss
How my dope posts give you a visual..."
:wow:

A friend of mine at the time told me that Mobb Deep had the nicest beats PERIOD. For whatever reason, I didn't rush to check out their album. Back then, it wasn't really about the albums. It was about singles. And there were tons of great singles. I only started going back to albums later in life, around 2003/2004.

I heard "Shook Ones" for the first time through 8 Mile. I was blown away! Still didn't check out their catalogue. Then "Got It Twisted" came out (which is MY shyt!). I used to love hearing that in the club. After that, I said "Aight, I really gotta listen to these guys' albums. I'm sleeping on them like crazy!"

Oh shyt haha

Have a superior attitude after getting into hip hop through 8 mile brehz

This is why Kendrick will never get respected in the rap game like that :manny: His forced rhymes are corny as fukk and come nowhere near as close as 6 Lord's

"And we don't stress
A.38 'til the free your chest
Then PP on the POs desk
I'm Jay Z in a blow out press
Relate me to your blowout's best
Can't heat me, I'm remote you're deaf" :mjlol:

I'd argue that Drake has some great rhymes when he has a hard hitting beat like 10 bands, other than that it's just :ehh:
