Talking down? Someone not aspiring to be the most they can be is far more destructive to them than me pointing it out to them. If you are only doing 60 percent of what you can do even with circumstances taken into account then you are being mediocre. This isnt a fixed value thing it applies to everyone the same way. If a mentally disabled man puts 95% of his effort into learning how to do addition and i put in 65% into learning preCalc then i am being mediocre relative to my potential compared to him. What about this is incorrect?

so you personally know that people are in the positions because they are not putting in 100% effort:stopitslime:

so for you income and education is the only thing that matters as far as effort?

are you putting in 100% to maximize your strength, health, diet, physique?

as i said u could have made your statement about putting in 100% effort without talking down on others

but u didnt even put in 100% into the thought process for this so:manny:

I personally know that most people don't try as as hard as they could. Yes I'm putting 100% into my strength, health ,and diet, and physique as far as my time and priorities go. Im not saying im better than anyone else. Im not saying I'm better than the lazy version of my self and i can always strive to do better and other people are better than the lazy versions of themselves and they can strive to do better as well. Im not gonna sit here tell people "You're just as good no matter how hard you try". This is the real world.

Yes and what are you gonna do about it? I'm sick of people using the difficulty of life as an excuse not to make life easier for themselves. Not everyone successful has a silver spoon. In fact those who come from nothing usually are the most successfull once they start living to their potential. Your bad circumstances should be your drive. Just because you're sourrounded by others who are okay with living below their potential doesn't mean you have to too. You'll put yourself ahead so many people already simply by accepting this information and believing that you are better than the adversity in your life
You're talking like you've never been in an down and out situation where you really want to make it, but need help doing so.

It's apart of life man. Not everyone is superman.

Ill thread. Lots of truth. The excuses OP is getting are hilarious tho. Can't put everyone on game though, just pray for the lames and take comfort in the fact that the people without excuses are hearing your message and making moves.
Thing is everyone figures it out eventually. Every mentor I'e ever spoken to or interview I've ever watched people preach the same thing. Unfortunately , some don't learn until they are deep in their 40s-50s sick of spending decades in virtually the same spot and start reciting that "shoulda coulda woulda"

Yes man i totally understand you we've all been their but you gotta realize help isn't always there. Luck isnt always there. But the harder you work the more luck you get and the more people you meet that can help you. You think its hard for bums to find other bums? The harder you work to get out your situation the more connections you will make with like-minded people. Michael Jordan was in the NBA for 7 years before he won a championship. He kept working and eventually he found himself around a team who could help him achieve his potential.

I'll have a number 5 with no cheese btw.
You say that like it's a bad thing. You remind of some of my engineering peers who look down on non-engineers. Everyone has a role. We can't all be bosses, we can't all be business executives, for example. Someone has to take orders, someone has to pick up the trash/be a janitor, someone has to be the security guard, etc. Not saying that's all one should strive for, but it's still an honest job and an integral part in making society functional. :manny:

And I already said earlier whether you are a janitor or ceo strive to be the best and you will get farther. I don't look down on you for flipping burgers if you normally would be homeless. In fact I commend you for that. But if you're content with flipping burgers but I know you have the intelligence and time to work to becoming manager/ owner and then later flipping business then I'm gonna look down on you because far more people accomplish more with less

I'm not talking about bums. Bums are bums and we know they will go no where. I'm talking about the people who either strive to be successful or were successful and fell off due to life circumstances (lost of job, lost of home, lost of finances, etc)

Sometimes you can only do so much on your own.

Worst case scenario is you could go broke trying to become a billionaire; the possibilities are endless. Also, what if 80k a year is mediocre to me? Should I be satisfied with the fact that such a salary is still better than average? Like I said, right up the alley with tumblr/Instagram memes.

You're missing the point. Not everyone is motivated by money. "Success" does not equal "rich" to everyone
