I think this only applies to how women identify a potential love interest. They’re less likely to marry a “hot” guy than they are one whose looks are unremarkable, because of a nagging fear that a “hot” guy will cheat on them.
Men don’t usually think like this, since they encounter greater difficulty finding a companion than women do.

On your initial premise, you are right when you generalize the statement. Most people have a scarcity mindset and/or do not want to compete long-term.Not really Brodie. Especially not these days. Women don’t need a man to provide no more. What woman rich, successful, popular and beautiful is going to want to be bogged down with marriage and kids? It’s more or less an even playing field these days for both sexes
On this one point breh, however you are wrong. Let's think about it - rich (most are not), successful (relative and I'll argue the standards are lower for women (I don't like that - however it is what it is), popular (relative), beautiful (not worth a grain of salt anymore - surgeries and other enhancements (ie. bras, shapewear, makeup, hair) diluted this one.
Most women don't make enough and/or have investments to divest themselves from men. Please don't let the mainstream media color your glasses telling you otherwise. We are in the background helping in one fashion or another. Some clear examples are social services which men who pay majority of taxes contribute, or protection (military, police, firefighters, doctors, etc).
I realized what it was when some guys randomly started dirtymacking someone we knew. I was like “Why are all of y’all telling me all this shyt about who he dates, etc when NO ONE said anything in the past”? Oh, because the most successful dude in the circle started looking my way so all the dudes making less than him started getting in my ear.
