This album gets some love but not enough. To me it's a 5 mic certified classic. The grimy/dark/ruthless tone is set from the beginning and stays consistent throughout. I can think of only a few tracks that I usually skip, and even those aren't bad. Nore is at his most hungry and motivated, and this is before he let his comedic side show through. Trag is the elder/mentor guiding the whole thing and keeping it on track. Capone is solid as always, just wish he could have been on more tracks. This is one of the first albums I recommend to young cats that say they like Mobb Deep and Wu Tang.

I think Distant Relatives was bigger outside of the US,and underrated here. I remember riding playing that and people would ask. "What are you listening to"?:aicmon:

This album is right up there with Slick Rick's the Art of Storytelling...
It was like listening to The Wire a decade before the Wire was released. :ohhh:
