They seem to follow the same formula, well it is actually a fact they follow a formula. A character that has some sort of dilemma meets a friend and somewhere in the film they will not be friends because of a dispute, and then they will get back together, solving the main character's problems.

This is Hollywood's flow chart, I'm leaving some things out but that's basically it.

But what I'm trying to get at is, can you guys please recommend me a film that will just totally blow me away?

I need a good movie to watch, no matter the era. :sadcam:

That's why I think movies like There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men are such great films, they aren't cookie cutters.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
I agree, AMC and HBO are making it extremely hard for me to get into movies now. The character development that takes place in the 10-15 hours worth of a season just cannot be fukked with.

They need to start making movies where the bad guy wins, unexpected twists that people genuinely don't see coming.

The average human brain CANNOT deal with an anti-climax...

Imagine you were watching "Scarface" and instead of him dying in a hail of bullets, he slipped on a bar soap, and fatally broke his on his expensive bathtub, while taking a bubble bath...

Your brain will be left hanging, and you will not be able to accept such an ending...

We are conditioned for that Hollywood formula...It's like the I-IV-V chord progression in music, our brains just love to hear that progression or variants of that progression...

It could be natural predisposition...

I agree with some shyt you're saying. Same old formula is old and played out. There are movies where you can watch the trailer and know exactly how the movie is gonna end up.

I disagree.

That's fine...

But the numbers don't lie...

Movies were the hero saves the day make WAY MORE money, than movies were the hero fails...

And music using the basic I-IV-V with 4/4 rhythm, are WAY MORE popular that music with weird progressions and rhythms...

Maybe as an individual, you may disagree, but I always try to argue from a "generalization" point view, because there is NO point arguing individual opinion...

And the fact that they get away with it and many of these movies make money is the worst part. The guy meets girl, then they break up only to get back together at the end is so tired yet there are literally thousands of these types of movies that have been made over the years.
