I try not to even watch trailers for movies because they usually spoil damn near the whole story/plot

That's why this is by far the best movie I've seen in years.

They need to start making movies where the bad guy wins, unexpected twists that people genuinely don't see coming.

That only works on rare occasions. Doing that too often would seem cheap and like they were trying to hard to be different.

It's just like how the original plans for the pilot of Lost were for Jack to get killed at the end of the episode (which is not a spoiler since that didn't actually happen), but the network refused because you can't expect to get emotionally invested in a character, kill him off so soon, and then expect people to get invested in some new nikka.

Worked for Game of Thrones :manny:

Movies are too formulaic though, like others have pointed out you can tell what's going to happen just off the trailers now. I actually remember that awful movie "Skyline" mainly because it seems more in line with what would happen in an alien invasion, we'd get fukked up with no hope in sight. I can't remember half the alien invasion movies I've seen, yet I remember Skyline simply because of the fade we caught in it :wow: and that movie was AWFUL.

The same old story of good triumph over evil is played the hell out now.

Unfortunately for people like us, (the minority) that simple shyt still entertains the masses. Most people still dont see that shyt coming. I hate how if you put any male and female in a room alone in any movie or t.v. show 99.9% of the time they are going to atleast make out, with little to no game necessary.

can you share a little of the movie without spoiling?

Two guys with no goal in life spend their time building flamethrowers and shyt fantasizing about ruling apocalyptic wastelands. One of them gets screwed over by a girl and things escalate. That's as much as I can say without spoiling half the movie, but if you ever were a sucka catching feelings over a girl and dreamed of hurting her, this will connect with you. Or confront you, because the first time I watched this I sat silently in my seat for 15 minutes after it ended because all I could think of was releasing a whole bunch of cropped up anger onto the world.

INCEPTION

I liked that

but yea that's why when I go to the movies I only watch action movies/sci fi

because I know my money went towards the special effects so I don't care that there is no plot.

I watch shows if I want to see character development and drama

I can't sit in a movie theater for more than 2 and half hours anyway

But what I'm trying to get at is, can you guys please recommend me a film that will just totally blow me away?

I thought Silver Linings Playbook was fantastic. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

The Raid: Redemption is one of the best action films ever.

There's nothing "new" with any movie nowadays, but the stories can be told creatively.
