They seem to follow the same formula, well it is actually a fact they follow a formula. A character that has some sort of dilemma meets a friend and somewhere in the film they will not be friends because of a dispute, and then they will get back together, solving the main character's problems.

This is Hollywood's flow chart, I'm leaving some things out but that's basically it.

But what I'm trying to get at is, can you guys please recommend me a film that will just totally blow me away?

I need a good movie to watch, no matter the era. :sadcam:

That's why I think movies like There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men are such great films, they aren't cookie cutters.

Probably won't 'blow you away' but Gimme The Loot is an entertaining movie which is not cookie cutter.

I agree, most movies are very predictable to say the least. I thought maybe I was just becoming a bitter dude

but me and the wife watched K.I.D.S. last night cause she never has seen it and it was just so refreshing to see a movie not following any of the conventional movie making rules and too still have a good story behind it....

Wifey was like :merchant: with some of the stuff that was said or done in there.

But movies like that stick with you.....

I enjoyed "This is the end" it was refreshing to see actors playing themselves and not seeing them trying to focus on a romantic storyline that they seem to try force with every genre of movies these days
