Won't say it improves it drastically, but definitely makes it a whole different movie.

The cop who is chasing Affleck and them goes on a date with the main chic in this version. that alone makes it a different story. especially when he comes through talmbout how affleck and his boys are the ones robbing banks.

I've had to have seen the T2 directors cut, I think I grew up on the directors cut as opposed to the theatrical version so I don't remember the differences, same for Aliens I believe. I still haven't peeped that Watchmen directors cut, I enjoyed the theatrical immensely though.

The Alien cut had the scenes where we learn about Ripley's daughter, and the sentry guns holding off a horde of aliens.

T2 had the first dream sequence with Kyle Reese, and where they manually reset the terminator's CPU by cutting his head open.
