I'll get hate for this but I watched Boys N The Hood years back and it felt so contrived and formulaic to me. Certainly not a trash film but nowhere near Menace II Society's level.

loved this shyt as a kid :wow:
same it's not so much that it's trash it just it just aged horribly. Mostly due to being the blueprint for epic war movies

Clerks 2. Had me DYING in the theatres. Copped it on DVD and couldn't watch past 10 minutes.

for me its that movie crash

when I first saw it my young adolescent mind thought it was 'so deep' but watching it years later I realized how garbage and lacking in subtlety it is

on a related note remember how interweaving storylines was a really popular thing to do around that time :russ: babel was the most egregious example. how each character's story was supposed to relate to one another was so paper thin it was almost non-existent. the japanese girls story was completely pointless to the story (but ironically was the most interesting outta the bunch)

i would fukk the shyt outta that jap girl

Word, I cut alot of films a break for ridiculousness, this was one of them and everybody i know swears up and down this is the coolest flick ever, but then I rewatched this , the plot, the acting not even John Woo's gun fights could get me through this, you could see the wires on the stuntmen, the platforms actors were supposed to be standing on before someone steps in and takes a stunt for them, only thing i liked about it was the opening scene on the carousel and the imagery in the church shootout, how the hell did we let nicolas cage get away with so much sh1t. Some say its a parody of US action movies, but its hard to tell whats a parody and whats just plain bad.
