I moved back to Louisiana in 2014, I had a big thread on here. Many said screw Louisiana, keep getting money and living good. But I wanted to spend more time with the family. And I did. Ended up meeting my dream girl and dream job in 2016. Life was good for a while. Relationship started falling off when I started working nightshift in 2018. Finally ended in January. Haven't been doing much since then.

My job ended in September, started my govt contracting company and been running a few other hustles. Only problem is, just don't across women I admire and Louisiana is just wild.

I'm at the crossroads, not sure what's next but I had to make a move. Got a job at the Navy Yard that I start Monday, I'm driving up now, no place to stay yet, but I got a few dollars.

I notice rent is thru the roof. Any suggestions of where I can find a decent place with a decent price? And any advice on the area.

Navy Yard has changed since you left, the atmosphere is amazing, but you need to live, and you will likely not be able to live in the city.

Look for a spot in PG. Greenbelt/Riverdale etc for starters. It’s the best you can do for the lowest amount

You should definitely stay in PG County (Suitland, Oxon Hill, Hyattsville, College Park or Bowie) because DC might be a little too pricey (except in SE) for you at the moment and Navy Yard isn’t a industrial wasteland anymore, that whole area been gentrified and it’s very costly as well.

Thanks bruh. My first job in DC was at the Navy Yard in 2004. Use to be very hood back then.

How's traffic and parking?

No parking.

Hyattsville is actually upgraded so it’s pricier, and Bowie doesn’t have apartments, it’s more homes. You need to be metro accessible and in a low cost area that doesn’t have super duper crime. You will have some crime but SE/District Heights type you really don’t want those problems lol.

Go look at apartments close to Greenbelt metro

Lots of development and somewhat reasonable real estate near H st. It’s still active over there but gentrification is changing the neighborhood rapidly.

You and I left the DMV around the same time. It's a shame that you had to crawl back with your tail between your legs ..:francis:

Philly born. PG raised
shyt ain’t the same. Be prepared to feel like the minority anywhere but SE. navy yard is nice af now.

If you’re renting just look for something in pg near a metro line. It’s some nice apartments near branch ave which would be a quick metro ride to navy yard.
