Little Italy I'd advise against because of the parking situation is BAD there. Mission Hills is dope. Nice Craftsman bungalow homes and one of the best record stores in SD is located there (M-Theory). Hillcrest is a good neighborhood to live in too but a heads up, it's San Diego's official gayborhood :dame:but if you're not like some of the other Coli brehs and don't mind that then you'll be fine there. If you got the bread, I'd also suggest North Park and you don't mind the hood (San Diego hoods aren't as bad as LA hoods in general) then I suggest City Heights. Lots of Ethiopian restaurants there.
Good shyt. I can't rep because I repped you recently. I been to SD 4-5 times the last 7-8 years. I love it, I just don't know it yet.

My job is close to the border any neighborhoods you recommend that way or nah?

Chula Vista is where my mother lives. Its a boring suburb but it has lots of Mexican and Filipino restaurants and it's quiet so if you're willing to drive to the city center for fun then I recommend that city. Imperial Beach is also quiet and nice to live in. The beach, however, is heavily polluted due to sewage run off from Tijuana so I wouldn't recommend going there often but if you just want a cheap to place to stay then that's ok. San Ysidro is the neighborhood directly adjacent to the border. Rent is much cheaper there than other parts of San Diego but the area is 95% Mexican and some parts of the neighborhood can be rough but if you don't mind either, you can live there. Southeast San Diego is a collection of neighborhoods that's, well, southeast of Downtown and a fair drive to the border. It's traditionally where Black Americans live in SD. Encanto, and my neighborhood Paradise Hills, still struggle with gang violence but it's the hotspot of Black culture in SD along with City Heights for Africans and Caribbean immigrants. The safest majority Black neighborhood has to be Valencia Park but there's still a little bit of a gang issue there. One of the big drawbacks of SD imo is the lack of middle-class and upper class Black neighborhoods as middle class and upper class Black people are spread out across the county and don't particularly congregate in one neighborhood or town.

I'll keep this in mind. I might bounce some other questions of you too, if that's cool.

What do you like about it?
I like the laid-back vibe. I think like most places where you live is what you make of it but it's generally chill. Hiking, running, mountains, beaches, lakes, desert, etc. all really accessible.

I think the areas where San Diego lacks are cultural things; musicians will often pass San Diego. we have museums and some independent art spaces but not at the scale of LA. I can't speak to single life or club life. the city is going through a budget crisis right now as well. so I think there will be tax increases on the horizon.

like others have mentioned the black community in SD is more spread out outside of southeast I guess.

This is all pretty much what im looking for. How are the people? Thats thebbiggest thing for me when moving. I live in the Pacidic Northwest and im honestly not a big fan of the people here. Overall most aren't bad but just not the right vibe for me. Im also single and dating here is BRUTAL.

Most are fine and tend to mind their business. I wouldn't say they're rude as much as maybe selfish/or self-absorbed. having said that, I keep a small circle and mostly keep to myself. maybe @JadeB might have more helpful info if he's younger than me.
