It's why "through the looking glass part 2" is still the best hour of telvesion ever to me. That entire summer break theorizing on what that ending meant was crazy.
That's why kids today can never appreciate how great LOST (and even The X-Files) were in their times. If you binge watch shows like that, you'll never get it. Those shows were all about the discussions after each show, and since they were on network TV MILLIONS of people were watching at the exact same pace.
Of course, both shows were making stuff up as they went along, but at the time we didn't know any better.
