Pretty misleading. Nobody is getting ads on their homescreen in the way you're trying to describe it.Breh aint nobody innovating, only renovating. Only thing Google TRULY innovates is how to make money off android users info and how to better serve yall ads on your HOMESCREEN
If you use Google for anything, you're being used to sell ads. And yes, while what you do on your phone triggers ads, that's only when you search for something and even then, at least they're relevant results. You can opt out and get a windows phone or an iPhone but again... use any of Google's services (Maps, Gmail, Youtube etc...) and you're part of it. Everyone in the world wants your info. At the very least, at least Google gives users useful services in return. It's not an ideal situation by any stretch of the means but I'd rather have that than a windows phone or worse yet, a dumbphone.
