Rogue took her powers from Carol Danvers but that hasn't happened in the MCU.
Since Fiege retconn the Carol's origin in the MCU, there is no need to distinguish btw Captain and ms. That allowed Feige to use Ms. MARVEL Later, which he is doing now.
I don't know how it happened in the comic books but they doing something else for the TV show. I wouldn't worry about the xmen part until they tell you.

I think they did like a month long documentary series where everyone was profiled and what they did to save the world from Thanos. They also had first hand accounts from heroes involved.
