MSNBC has been a shythole for ages but it is getting embarrassing now. I read one report that said some of their shows were regularly losing to Al-Jazeera which is insane considering the difference in household availability between the two networks. The network needs to get rid of that nest of idiocy and misinformation called Morning Joe too.
Also heard there is talk of MSNBC trying to get Olbermann back too.

I am curious as to how Al Sharpton's show isn't on the chopping block. Nobody watched that either.

Al Jazeera is much better.. and the fact that they have Al Jazeera English newshours and shows on the American channel is a big plus

the entire org should base itself around the banter on morning joe and the story building of maddow. those two shows are legit the best on tv in their timeslots in terms of raw content. yes, maddow is only going to cover what is in her lane but when she has a rabbit to chase, no one is safe

Sharpton isn't going anywhere. Especially now with all the racial tension. I am sure he has his activist on speed dial just in case. Probably goes into meetings like MSNBC is horrendous. Always has been. They should have looked else where for their talent outside the failed air america host

What's so great about Al-Jazeera that sets it apart?

The network covers the whole world and it covers a lot of issues in America that are not on other cable news channels

And you don't have the useless partisan banter

Obviously news in the middle east comes with the view of the Qatari establishment, the Arabic channel is pretty shameless about it and you can see it in the English channel.

But for the most part the network gives a good general coverage of the world

Its good to also see what the establishment in other countries are seeing. If you want the Brit one, listen to BBC. If you want the Russian, watch RT. If you want the Chinese, watch CCTV. If you want the Saudi, watch Al Arabiya. And so on. It certainly gives you a look at other perspectives.

When have you ever seen a report on CNN or MSNBC or Fox News about the atrocities in Gaza or the financial system in Nigeria or migrant workers in Nepal? This type of news is a regular thing on Al Jazeera and as the breh @FAH1223 said it doesnt have all the partisan jew bickering as those other networks
