I don't understand why MTV didn't make it's own programming etc. I know they got a budget and whatnot but wouldln't variety in content help to keep people tuning in?

I read somewhere that by mid 26 MTV would be off air.
I believe it, I was watching one of those infographic videos on Youtube and they mentioned MTV's model was designed to fail because it was built around music videos whiich means their entire success/failure was built around the music industries relationship with music videos which basically peaked at the late 90s

MTV might as well call music labels daddy :dame:

You mean like they used to? The Real World fathered all this reality tv shyt anyway. They could've easily just pivoted, changed their name and merge with VH1 once videos died out and basically been like E or Bravo for Paramount now.

Exactly my point. I don't get why they would rely on 1 show for their success I honestly believe maybe the corporation is trying to phase out MTV FOR GOOD!

Cuz MTV is a 40+ Year old brand, the name alone with average content (Not good, not bad) would get people to tune it. Basically there's too many ways to save MTV that this feels on purpose.
