the awards last night were just an abomination to music and a disgrace to the town of brooklyn. it was so cac/pop heavy and influenced it was sickening to watch. it makes me hate every hip hop artist who was in the room that night. if you went out to party in the city after that bullshyt like it was all good you disgust me. my uncle who does security for the nation of islam invited me to an afterparty last night but i was so irritated how they came to brooklyn on some fukk shyt. no brooklyn artists except kim? hardly any NY artists period. you could've just kept that shyt at radio city. not even one rapper got their chain snatched. it's so sad.

This just seems like some BS to me...MTV's coming to Brooklyn! the Home of Hip-hop (to gentrifiers who view NYC and Brooklyn as some superficial void or an extension of their college campus) at Barclay's!
I try to not be too critical or harsh, but why do I see this "homecoming" as nothing more than a byproduct of gentrification cheerleading?

You do realize MTV don't even play videos no more. And these awards are VOTED on weeks in advance by fans. So you got a channel based around teenagers. White teenagers. MTV knew the winners before the show. They know their audience and catered to it.
You should have known this was gonna be wrong when they kept hyping Katy perry in Brooklyn instead of any black artists from Brooklyn. I mean shyt were the beastie boys even there? It was their damn song used for hype the whole time

When has an awards show had artists there simply because the show is held there? They've been doing it in NY for how long? But when they go to Brooklyn they're supposed to have Fabolous, Maino, Uncle Murda and Buckshot It's MTV. The VMAs. Something that's been aimed at teenagers since the jump. Going to Brooklyn wasn't gonna change anything.
Have 2 of the surviving Beasties on there and do what?
