MTV should have become STARZ.
They should have been the ones airing the Powerverse and putting out Taylor Swift / Beyonce concert movies. They should be the ones doing Unsung, Hot Ones and behind the scenes / history of The Color Purple.
They seriously dropped the ball and basically gave the channel away to Rob and Catfish.

MTV has never had that type of bread to pull that off.
It was a reason why actors and actresses would always jump ship to The CW even when that pay was on the low end compared to other television stations.

Only movies they would have awarded this year are Barbie and Dune 2 and all of those stars are done promoting those movies. You not getting Ryan Gosling/Margot Robbie or Zendaya/Tim/Elvis/Florence to show up to accept any popcorn for Barbie/Dune 2 unless you paying a lot for their appearance. 
The biggest star they would have got is Sidney Sweeney to accept best kiss, best love scene, best chemistry, best anything dealing with her body
Ryan and Hugh would have probably shown up to do a quick spot for Deadpool/Wolverine.

I do believe it's fair to say that the MTV Movie Awards are no more. I haven't watched since 2016, but they were always fun to watch.

There really isn't an MTV anymore. It's just Ridiculousness and Catfish last I checked. It's kinda hard to then come back and have an award show for a network that isn't even functional anymore.
