@adonnis - pull up, there's refreshments
This is true of a lot of talented artists. Same thing with Snoop. I see people in here discrediting Snoop because they heard people write for him. Snoop may have writers, but it ain't because he can't write on his own, hell it's because he's a fukking BRAND and he has an image to maintain. Don't get it twisted, Snoop is probably one of the most naturally gifted, of-the-top-of-the-dome freestyle artists to ever have a record deal, his issue, like many freestyle artists is constructing coherent songs that don't run on in a tangent. Snoop also has interests outside of rap, so when he is pressured to put out an album, having a "team" is just part of the package, otherwise he just might not do it. Those of us who are 30+ know Snoop can rap, but Snoop is a grown ass man who, for the last 15+ years has had other interests to occupy his time and didn't really need to rap as he was becoming a cultural icon, so you damn sure better come to him with a "Beautiful" or a "Sexual Eruption" or a "Drop It Like Its Hot" if you want him to spit. His VOICE is worth more than his PEN. Bottom line.
This is smart-dumb logic . . Not because you're wrong but it's like you're trying to be the guy offering insight, yet it's merely commonsense to anyone with half a brain. That doesn't mean it's not detestable and it's not a valid reasoning for excusing him from detractors. Songwriting is an inherent prerequisite of being a rapper and there's been plenty of songwriters who write their own lyrics with larger BRANDS to uphold
The difference between Drake and Snoop is we know Snoop is basically a pop star . . Hell, Pharrell shoved his hand up his ass and used Snoop as a puppet to produce some tracks to test out a new style. Snoop is about mainstream appeal . . Drake was being critically acclaimed and hailed as a talented songwriter. His whole brand largely evolved around the perceived prolificness we saw in him as a songwriter
You have Fetty Flop in your avi. You probably CAN'T read it.
