Didn't watch video, but Was he really trying to hit him though in that exhibition match? I can't believe a professional fighter could be that sorry to miss those many punches and a wide open exposed body

Nah he wasn't. They were clearly just fooling around mostly. Still looks cool as a gif though.

Thoughts on this thread and ali? :youngsabo:

ali relied on pulling staight back from punches. which is why when his reflexes went he took many beatings and now hes not in good shape.

the rope a dope as he called it was just his bad technique. it worked once because foreman blew himself out and reportedly had food posioning. :mjpls:

I believe I got this video from this site, but that reminds me of:

Not textbook, but that's why I believe being able to slip punches like that at the highest level is more about your reflexes, knowing range and innate ability to feel your opponent's timing.

Edit: And these are Heavyweights, where it's more likely one punch means :deadrose:. To drop your hands like that given the risks speaks volumes of his comfort in his ability.

yeah, but those aren't 20 punches and Tyson was weaving way more and lower than what Ali was doing. Ali is standing holding the ropes...i can't buy him not getting cracked if it's for real. That other gif of him dodging those punches in the 60's is legit and impressive

*edit* I thought you quoted me lol

Once again, he wasnt o their level of evading and dodging. Ducking doqn in a sport where a guu cant reach u or grab/kick u aint the same as standing in front of a man face to face and him not being able to catch u because of how evasive and calculated your dodging is. Tyson wasnt chicken shyt but ali, silva, and floyd were a differently level defense wise

we all have fast muscle twitch, but Silva, Floyd, Roy Jones, Ali, they have it plus amazing eye coordination which = demigod like reflexes. This is why it appears they have 'bad form', because at which point they are so superior reflex wise, they can put their hands down, hold the ropes, and rely on natural god given ability.

It must be frustrating as hell to be an elite fighter, you bust your ass for x-amount of years, and then someone with a special god given gift comes along and effortlessly dismantles you.

these sort of people only come around every few decades, just like Einstein, geniuses only come around so often. They're the 0.5 %ers of the elite 1%. Like a modern day mutant/xmen/super saiyan.
