Realistically can anything be done to de-radicalize these people before these incidents happen? White fragility is really something else...



One thing that was seared into my mind as a child was the OKC bombing and I feel like it's only a matter of time again at this point. They've gutted programs that were designed to counter the white militias and racist groups and hate crimes are at a high.

Most of these new attacks are lone wolf style attacks that are often "unpreventable" but it feels like the Fed are at sea without a paddle...

I think there's little you can do in the moment other than putting in barriers to gun access. Even that would only make a difference in a few cases.

In the long term, I feel like the answer is a tough one. It has to be better communities. The people who do this are repeatedly losers, loners, who aren't part of any meaningful community and so they float around aimless until they get radicalized by a freaking internet chat group that gives them a sense of belonging to something meaningful. It shouldn't be hard to compete for belonging with a place like 8chan. But community spirit is so dead everywhere that that's all they got.

The same goes for ISIS recruits and in some cases gang membership too. You have to give people better options so they don't even imagine doing some bullshyt just to fit in somewhere.

The same people who chastise Hillary stans and the Dems for putting her up against Trump when people didn't like her are the same fukking people who refuse to admit that the reason why these shootings happen and continue to happen is because the right wing of the American political spectrum feeds into it.
