I checked the Murs.
First impression, he's not as good as Cole. Murs actually sounds like a regular guy rapping, and was clearly targeting the black backpack market. He had very good production but what he says isn't that that interesting. Cole has stronger song concepts although the themes may be similar. Coles cadence is also better than this dude. Cole is sharper and "snaps" better imo.
Not if it's due to when they were made, but Murs rhymes are very "I'm gonna rap over bro soul" type style. Although phonte is similar in a way, he is much better and clearer, he seemed to wash him on the animal joint
I would say Cole is closer to a nick grant, although not as good. Grant is like a B+, but without a catalogue as yet. Issue is only a few rappers in each category are allowed to shine in the Internet era, whereas traditionally a lot more ate from the pie. E.g. Female rappers only 2 max can really thrive at one time. These "ordinary guy rappers" only 2/3 can be on top, and the prize for being that top spot is huge, Cole n duck take most of the spoils. FHD was good but not 2015 double plat good :drakelaugh1:
Murs wouldn't cut it to be the top 2/3 even with the Jay co-sign, being light brite, n stimulus package.
