The question is not properly asked.

Asking this question from an individual perspective is bogus or misleading.

Music, more than literature and maybe cinema, influence a group. Music influence the collective pysche's of the group. And in that perspective, yes, music can influence, reinforce anti social behaviors within a group.

If they give you the exclusive control of the music a group is listening to, you have as much power as the head of that group.

The idea of music, movies, video games etc... making someone a killer is a lazy cop out.

A lot of people need to blame somebody else or something else every time they make a personal decision to do something stupid so I'm not surprised some people are dumb enough to accept that reasoning.

If music cannot influence behavior, then why has the music industry been pushing degenerate lyrical content and harsh tonal frequencies on us for decades?

Of course it's not a DIRECT correlation in the sense that everyone who listens to 'X' will inevitably do 'Y'. However, it is certainly an influence, especially in youth.

But that's almost like saying "Basketball games don't make people play basketball" :skip:

Like yeah okay, they don't literally make you play... but it does influence people to want to play the game of basketball. Why are we in denial of forms of entertainment being influential to a persons mind and actions?

It is another factor among many factors carefully designed to steer certain peoples behaviour that way.

It alone almost certainly isn't enough, but remove it as a factor from among all the others and we also probably see a drop in violence.
