i called cd's a default winner because they were the most convenient. every format had it's issue. scratching and skipping? :skip:

when cd format first came out it was rejected by a lot of people because of the thin sound. took them a long time to get cd mastering down right in order to convert audio lovers. people bought tapes well into the 90's

a very valid point

taking something made completely digitally and recorded digitally and putting out a vinyl version doesn't really enhance shyt...

CD players were expensive when they came out, when they became cheaper thats when tapes died

and you can easily not scratch CDs, tapes however will break and degrade with use, CDs are digital they never lose sound quality but the sample rate is limited on a CD its compressed, but mp3s are even more compressed the CD audio, the best choice was always playing the audio file of a drive because there isn't any compression

streaming will never match the quality because it has to go through what they call gain stages

with analog equipment the more stuff you plug wires through the more sound quality you use, because it goes through gain stages, and noise is added into the recording

nikkas are conveniently leaving out burning CDs ... just as most debates on this website

I found streaming is only good (to me at least) when I want to find new music on the fly

I use it to just throw on albums I otherwise never would have listened to, quickly. The cost to worth is pretty trash though unless you really need it with you and use it alot

OP is on to something...

CD's definitely sound better than streaming but the ease of use is what gets a lot of people. I do miss having a CD player in my car.

The only thing that comes close is using flash drives in the car but that takes some time to setup

The streaming business model is essentially a licensed/monetized version of the man who keeps a well-organized digital music library

All these muhhfukkaz stole their business model from me :pacspit:
