NEW YORK (Reuters) - Mondelez International Inc CEO Dirk Van de Put said in a Reuters Newsmaker interview on Tuesday that the maker of Oreo cookies has pulled its ads off Twitter after Tesla Inc boss Elon Musk acquired the social media site.

"What we’ve seen recently since the change on Twitter has been announced, is the amount of hate speech increase significantly," Van de Put said. "We felt there is a risk our advertising would appear next to the wrong messages.

"As a consequence, we have decided to take a pause and a break until that risk is as low as possible," he said.

Twitter last week laid off half its workforce as advertisers pulled spending amid concerns about content moderation. Automakers, General Mills Inc and United Airlines Holdings Inc are among companies halting ads.

Twitter, which has lost many members of its communications team, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Van de Put added that Mondelez, which makes Cadbury and Milka chocolates, is expecting a strong holiday season. The consumer in Europe, Mondelez's largest market, is currently what worries him most, he added.

Biggest misconception in silicon valley, ill tell you that. Tech jobs are spiraling out of control right now :mjlol: absolute worst time in tech history to switch jobs :mjlol: and it was always a misconception even before this.

on top of that - what employer would want to hear this during an interview?

interviewer: so whyd you leave twitter with your $200k a year salary with full benefits?
dumbass interviewee: I didnt like my new boss

yeah, thatd go over real well in a real interview :laff: thats exactly what other tech companies would want to hear :laff: that you jump ship at the first sign of controversy :laff:

This is cap. Hell “ sillicon valley” is the biggest misconception of the tech world for people who don’t work in it. Do you people think there isn’t tech jobs outside of california, which many are trying to leave anyway?

Its one thing to say that you might not make the same salary, but to say that a fukking twitter engineer couldn’t land on their feet just shows you don’t know what the fukk your talking about lol. I should show you my inbox. It hasn’t slowed down in 2-3 years…

we not talking about past 2-3 years, we are not talking about now. No I dont think many tech people will bounce back quick with a similar salary as they have at twitter if they left today.

I’m talking about now. As in, I’ve been getting hit up at the same cadence today as the past two-three years. Again, there’s a very small bubble of people that were making super exorbitant salaries that might be forced to take something slightly less exorbitant.

Otherwise most people will be fine. Big tech has never really represented the industry as a whole.

Dude your arrogance is unfounded. Being chased by recruiters does not mean you’ll get the job. Or u might not even like the job. Stop using ur particular view point to make silly generalizations.

Your comprehension skills are garbage.

I’ve worked in this industry for years, I know what it takes to get hired. My post simply means people are hiring, have positions to fill which is counter to this “there’s no jerbs in tech” narrative some are trying to promote.

Again, there’s this small bubble of these household name tier 1 2 and 3 companies that most people online like to focus on then you have the 1000s of other smaller firms that pay great money as well. Big tech layoffs, which the jobs themselves were mostly based on an overpriced equity market after the longest bull market ever, are not representative of the industry as a whole which is doing fine.

Brehs in another country living it up with their Twitter salary.

Probably in Cambodia renting a 100 room mansion for the rent money in New York/ Silicon Valley. Now they gotta come back and pay 3k a month for a shoe box.

:dead:

All the management leaving because they got their own home office in their room and now they gotta come in 40hrs a week.

Remote work changed a lot for many people. Imagine someone being around their kids as they grow up something they would miss with their hectic work life especially as a executive level person. People saving tons in travel costs, not being in long ass commutes.

:wow:

Big tech is overrated. Get better options in the smaller companies fr.

He wants as many people in Twitter as possible to quit. He doesn't have to pay severance, cut staffing and replace them at a lower salary in hopes that people apply just because it's Twitter. I get what's he's doing but it's overboard. He doesn't seem to understand or care about public image. When bigger corporations do this, the CEOs know how to talk around the criticisms to maintain the image of the company. This fool just does shyt and don't give a fukk.

I mean, working in the office is what got most companies to where they are today. I may not agree with it but there is another option.......Leave to find a job where you can work remotely.

As a recently laid off Twitter employee, that's more or less the reason I give to recruiters and hiring managers. And they don't care, they just trying to fill the role with qualified candidates.
