Muslim reassigned at Target store for not ringing up pork

I don't see the issue with having another cashier ring it up or having the customer scan it themselves. A forced store reassignment doesn't seem appropriate. Nor is firing the employee as some of you have called for

I just remembered when I was like 13 in class I had a cheese and bacon roll (where the bacon is on the top), I took off a minuscule piece of it and lightly threw at my Muslim fried as a joke and it just rebounded off his face. All I knew was that he didn't like bacon. And he responded with what I thought was a complete overreaction At that point I had no idea how seriously people took religion

Throw food in people's faces and be shocked at a strong reaction brehs

There's no rule in Islam about selling pork, only its consumption. Re-assigning the employee is still the right thing to do.

Anyways... Target should've taken them to the basement and drowned them.

Why cant they be reassigned? Of course that is part of there job as a cashier but if you can find something different that works for everyone make it happen I feel like this type of attitude is why the world is so fukked up now.

A lot of Muslims probably shop at that Walmart so firing them would hurt them more in the long run.

This is no different than moving a cashier to the stock room because they keep fukking up the count. People always want to make a big story (or any story for that matter) out of nothing. Why are people in this country so obsessed why religion or who's fukking who?

They made the choice to not handle pork, so they should have to deal with the tradeoff, and that means being fired. Most likely though, Target realizes displaying their tolerance for different cultures would probably help their brands image in the long run, so they will continue to let it rock.

Btw, I'm sure if you switch the religion in this story to christian, no exceptions would be made.

muslim dude at my retail job told the managers he couldn't pick up various objects of animals the store contains because they're idols but there were other muslims working there who had no problem with it, you literally have to pick it up and place it on a shelf. either do your job or get fired

waiting is the worse when you're the one being checked out and not moving. i don't want to waste 5+ minutes standing around while they go find and confirm that someone else can do their job. that might not be valuable time to you, but it sure as hell is to me. do y'all even grocery shop (i'm single so i gotta do that shyt)? how is this at all reasonable, it's the service business. i'm not demanding that you buy pork for me.

that's why when i'm at costco i try to use self-checkout when the line isn't ridiculously long.
