Thread title is self explanatory...

Basically I've gotta get the fukk out of the Raleigh/Durham area and am just looking to start my life anew, and Atlanta is obviously a place that gets plenty positive press.

Background is I'd basically be starting my life over there... or wherever I go, I'm just looking to move somewhere where I don't know anybody and can just get my life together. I don't wanna leave the Southeastern region though just in case I change my mind later, lol.

Atlanta is the place to be in the south right now. What kind of stuff are you into and I'm also certain that I can say that ATL is objectively superior to St. Louis.
Our women ------> :whew: .

Cost of living (for the most part)-------->:whew:

Metro Atlanta area has all types of culture to offer with a surplus of opportunities

Only thing that could be better is traffic on 400,285,75,85 during certain hours.

:myman:Go ahead and make the move breh wont regret it.

Also, transition would not be hard since you are from NC.

If you don't have a job before you get here, don't come. It's a lot of money floating around up there I was looking at getting into IT and moving up there.

Make that move OP! I'm originally from Atlanta, went to school up there in the Triangle, and came back home 2 yrs ago. I went back up to Raleigh/Durham a few weeks ago and was like "damn I'm kinda glad I left" :mjlol:

Even though I prefer a slower pace, laid back city, it's cool to be back home in Atlanta. It's a good move for whatever field you're in, interests you have, and cost of living isn't too much higher compared to RDU

ATLANTA
Im at the airport, so i have a few minutes to break it down.
Straight up, ATL fell off in the early 2000s. Just being real. The city became :flabbynsick: Alot of interesting ppl left after Arista and Laface went out of biz. Alot of the famous ppl moved out west. Ray Lewis and Big Meech set the nite life scene back 10 years (atl heads know what i mean). Property values sunk like the rest of America, but unlike the the rest, we had a influx of Katrina cats and Section 8 vouchers flooded the suburbs after all the projects were demolished in the 2000s. Whereas before it was simple to get a job, jobs became scarce for a while. ATL was a shell of its former self.

BUT

Recently, ATL is mounting a comeback. Tyler perry is the new laface and he bought to buy up the city and turn this bytch into black Hollywood. The club scene is on its way back over the 4th ward and other areas such as Peters street. Its nowhere near as dead as it used to be, its just more spread out. Property values are slowly but surely creeping back up. The housing market hasn't been this good since the bubble burst. The school rankings are improving in such counties as Gwinnet and Cobb. Jobs are coming back in sectors such as biomedical and manufacturing. Kasim reed has also did a good job with building up some quality of life stuff downtown with the Civil Rights and College Football Hall of Fame, the trolleys, the entertainment factor in the city is improving. The strip clubs are top 3 in the nation. The women top 3 in the nation (i dont acknowledge cacs), the cost of living value Top 3 in the nation. Overall i dont think the A will ever fully get back to its glory era of 90-2001....but i think by 2017 when everything is up and running (beltline, the new soccer/football stadium etc).....atl should be close to being back as the shyt. If we could just do something about the shytty transport systems ie the clogged highways, hillbilly-like snow mgt, and the Marta......:snoop:

How much you need to earn to live comfortable in Atl or the suburbs? How much is rent for a nice apt not in the hood? How much for a really nice place?

Stuntone leaving DC in a few weeks. I'm going to Louisiana to hopefully start a business and spend time with family, if nothing jumps off, I'll be coming there or Texas.

You should be cool with between 45-60k. You should eat real good off of anything above 75. Rent for a nice apt has went up. Im helping my sis in law find a spot. A two bedroom should run about 800-900 in a decent area, a good area is a stack and up.

You can find a really nice place for cheap if u dont care about being in or close to the hood. Places like Lithonia and the SWATS have some places with great amenties if u dont mind putting up with some rachet behavior and the occasionally nikka moments.

Hope this helps
