These scam "work" because they cast such a wide net they end up catching the 0.01% that do fall for this. There's a lot of people in this world. I read a story about a girl that was on the train and was eavesdropping on a phone conversation a man next to her was having with one of these types of scammers. Essentially it was a text message scam saying he entered his card info somewhere or some shyt and they were calling him to verify his info or some shyt. The girl was trying to tell the man to just hang up and it was a scam. Dude wasn't trying to listen to her and gave his card info over the phone.
