My understanding on Karma (Literature, Experience and Brainstorming). it is a word that defines some aspect of law and order within this realm we are experiencing life in. it is a constant fluctuation for some, a constant gaining or pooling of positive for another group and a constant gaining or pooling of negative for others.
Karma is able to be facilitated through interactions with life in general. doesn't matter if it's a roach or a 1,000 year old tree. everything with sentience in this world that you interact with you're either gaining, losing or balancing your karmic checkbook.
Karma has to be some form of electro-magnetic type force that operates on higher planes than the physical or easily perceptible. you draw the experiences which resonate closer to your current overall karmic state. meaning, if you radiate positive vibes into the world, this is what's going to be drawn to you. if you radiate negative, same outcome, you draw more negative.
Now, some philosophies dealing with Karma believe this is the reason why past-life memory is usually wiped at birth because if we carry the knowledge[1] of our past right and wrongs, we will do "right" based off of fear of repercussion rather than learning a genuine lesson in life.

[1] Knowledge and Wisdom are two different things in my understanding. although Knowledge does facilitate the seeding, growth and ultimate maturity of Wisdom, Knowledge isn't a constant. Wisdom stays wisdom regardless of the experiences in which it is culminated from.
