We got pics with most everybody. Some congress lady i forget her name right now, and some dude that donated 5 million dollars to the scholarship fund gave my wife their card telling her to call them for anything. She said the millionaire dude was winking at her.

Will he be offering a milli for 1 night with your wife?

No need to lie. That dude and his wife were mad weird. He didn't really say what he did, but his wife is the CEO of some minerals company that specializes in industrial sand(didn't know such a thing existed)

But anyway they were standing and talking to us literally inches from our face, and kept saying call us for "ANYTHING" the chick wanted to hug us multiple times, and the looks on their faces were kinda awkward. I think they viewed us like some little starving Somalians that they saved, and they want to follow our progress.

Thanks for the advice everybody.

Honestly I don't even know. I work in electronics and the dude who offered me a job is the CEO of a industrial manufacturing company. He said he needs someone with skills in electronics, so that's a good match. But the other dozen people who gave us their cards, I have no idea what they want or what I would want from them, other then a way to make some more money.

And @tmonster that sounds like solid advice except for one problem. I don't know how to do any of that. Golf? tennis? :heh:
Best I could do would be to invite dude over to play some Xbox or something :russ:

Tennis is fun and easy to learn
and there is no harm in going to the range with and instructor to lean how to tee off
you gotta learn the culture and get involved
it will expand your horizons
also don't forget this cat may be a huge fps gamer so always ask.

but do some homework and get some info

Quiet as kept community outreach or politics is the most effective way to meet rich & powerful people. They will never brush you off.

You made it to the land of milk & honey, my dude.

@MeachTheMonster this is bad advice unless you reach the point where they ask for it. This is exactly why I said to act as if you're just inquiring at first. You don't know the personality of these people. Some people appreciate you just straight up asking about a job, but a large percentage do not and they'd rather that you wait until they bring it up. That's why I said to express genuine interest and try to find a situation where you can talk to them and naturally the question of whether or not you have employment will come up. Straight up asking is a risky move, unless you have a personal connection. No one proper career adviser will tell you to do what he just told you to do. The only time that makes sense is if someone else is forwarding a resume on your behalf. Trust me on this. I've spoken to enough recruiters at this point and some of my friends are the recruiters at their corporations. Establish a rapport first, and show some sort of genuine interest.
Yup.
"Hello Mr. Rich guy,
We met last week at xyz, I just wanted to call and thank you for taking the time to talk with me. You know we discussed some potential opportunities you might have and it peeked my interest, I wanted to see when you might be available to sit down and discuss what you had in mind."

or something along those lines. Don't beat around the bush too much, if dude offered you a job already then be direct.

:whoa: invest in a PS4 before you invite them over...

few people can honestly give you great advice on this, just do you. i worked at a small company with a billionaire as the CEO and a millionaire as the COO and they often said or did things to other people that went nowhere, but sometimes they really came through. their word was not exactly consistent. if these people are like that then there is no real playbook, breh. i suggest you just not overthink it, invite them to lunch and inquire about their needs involving electronics in your first email. treat it like you have something to offer them, not like you want them to give you a job.

So after some research I found out dude is a republican councilman currently running for county executive. I called him and we had a decent conversation, he's certainly not the typical right-winger we usually hear about.

He seems like a cool dude and seems genuinely interested in helping me out. Got a meeting with him on Friday. Wish me luck brehs.
