I recommend staying in the West End. It's central to everything you want to see as a foreigner....Buckingham Palace, the nightlife, museums, shopping. As an American the best part of visiting London were the people. Random people in bars or at festivals would just start a conversation, especially when they hear the accent. I'm not saying everybody is all hunky dory nice...it is still a fast paced, bustling city.
My new years there turned out to be one of my best ever. I met some locals who told me most people from the city stay in at house parties for the countdown, then go out after. So they invited us to their apartment in Canary Wharf, met some cool people (nikkas was snortin coke & methadone tho
), then watched the central London fireworks from the rooftop of their building, then went out club hopping afterwards. The trains were crazy that night because they're free. I fukked a Kosovan that night...you met people from the most random place over there
