Did you read the OP? He said he went into their restaurant respectfully. So what's the game plan when they get here and see we aren't the monolith they display on TV and still treat you poorly regardless like as in the example of the OP.

They assume that cac customers is where the real money is. They are afraid that the presence of too many black people will scare away the cacs, whom they are trying to appeal to

It's also why they try to rush you out as soon as you're done eating while cacs get to sit longer and enjoy the whole experience. It's happened to me a few times, not in East African restaurants tho. I never go back if I feel unwelcome

some of us just don’t feel comfortable around foreigners, specially the older generation... black, white, yellow it don’t make a difference. We come from family orientated cultures, there is always an us and them mentality benethe the surface, even within our own nations. That can be misinterpreted as racism to someone who doesn’t understand the culture, but we are just weary of outsiders, people with different languages, religions and customs... colour don’t make much of a diffence in this case..
