Da city where the skinny nikkas die
https://getbevel.com/

it keeps popping up on my fb feed. It was started by a black Stanford MBA who used to get forced to be cleanshaven while working on Wall Street

look at these claims:
  • Tug Free Shaves
  • Engineered with perfectly polished edges, sharp enough for the coarsest of hairs without being overly aggressive. Expect a smooth shave, free of tugging, pulling, and irritation.
  • Shaving with the Bevel safety razor is the safest, freshest, most cost-effective way to shave. Period. And it’s the only shaving solution for men with coarse, curly hair.
  • “The Bevel system revolutionizes shaving for men with curly hair. It is a comprehensive system that is easy to use, effective and convenient. I am confident that the Bevel system will reduce the number of men suffering with razor bumps in my office. ”
  • - Dr. Michelle Henry

joint got me like :lupe:

im gonna cop the starter kit and try it when i get back from vacay. the fact that it's started by a nappy bearded negro is giving me confidence. I've never been able to shave with a razor before. :to:

How is this different from a Merkur or Edwin Jagger double-edge razor?

I mean I have the Edwin Jagger DE89BA11 and have no complaints.

:yeshrug:

Picked up a 100-pack of Astra Blades off Amazon for like $10 and haven't had to spend money on Mach 3 blades since.

:blessed:
I probably still have like 35 blades left...and I gave away like 40 or 50 to my friend who is a barber.

A 4-pack of Mach 3s gotta be like $18.

:why:

probably no difference. I've never used a safety razor before. did you get razor bumps normally? did using a safety razor fix them? :lupe:

i just started using it about 1 week and a half ago. Definitely better than a gilette and even clippers. I still have bumps tho. not as bad as with other types of razor but i think ima just cancel the membership and rock a low beard. shyt is easier that way

I don't really get razor bumps.
I have certain spots that are tough to shave, so inevitably I'll have nicks here and there and bleed a little. That's why I like to shave the night before so I'm not getting blood on my dress shirt/tie.

If you're curious about shaving techniques and overall advice, Geofatboy has a youtube page all about shaving.
You can disregard a lot of the products he pushes. I'm not sure that people need to use 5 or 6 products before and after shaving.
But the videos are helpful.

Here's one.

I will say that I personally don't like Edge shaving cream or the cheap Gillette or Shick foam creams.
They have this weird oily feel on my face.

If you have the money, try Proraso's shaving cream (the green is the standard, but they also have the Sandalwood and another one).
Few places sell Proraso except for online (amazon has it, so does WestCoastShaving and a few other sites).
But Bath & Body Works sells "CO Bigelow" shaving cream and it's made by Proraso so it's the same exact thing.

Those creams are pretty good and you only have to put like an almond-size amount into a bowl...wet a brush and you have enough lather for 3 or 4 passes of shaving. So it does last quite a while.

see this is what I was scared of. I have the nappiest, coarsest, curly beard hair and I've tried everything. bumps are inevitable. my hair is so tough that even Extra Strength Magic Shave doesn't faze it.

i think i gotta learn how to use the razor properly tbh. But yea like i said overall, improvement over other methods but not a perfect solution.

It's a black business and they get good reviews. I don't shave, but I'll probably cop it for someone during Christmas. :manny:
