First off your friend is fukking lazy. He's complaining saying these jobs arent good enough? WTF he's lucky to have a masters, it's his fault to pick a field where they didnt want him. You gotta think long term. Also he can always travel for a fukking job if he WANTED it bad enough...

If a potential employer told him he'd be making about 90k* but he'd have to relocate outta state would he go?

There are other jobs that would accept him but you said he turned them down because he thinks he's too good for them. Oh well it's his stupidity...
Dude, he's getting turned down for everything from research to technical sales. It's driving him nuts.

I have another friend in that same major that's experiencing the same thing. Not as academically successful, but graduated with a high 3pt GPA. It's just way too specific, IMO. Even if you have research at your back. Everyone wants someone with applied knowledge instead of a bunch of academic theory.

As for moving, yeah, he's applied to "a ton" of jobs out of state. Even tried networking with a bunch of his connections from his undergrad days. It seems like there's a lack of willingness on the part of employers to relocate or to go with out of state talent. He also talks about getting branded as "overqualified" a lot.

I offered dude breh a spot on my couch (which I always encourage people to do with friends and family that want to relocate.) Perhaps if he was in a bigger market there would be more opportunity.

The corporate life aint for everybody but if you love it, its rewarding.
If homie networks, he's gonna eat real good.
Yep.

That corporate life is definitely not for everybody, especially these academia types it seems, but it's a good place to stack chips with minimal effort.

An old coworker of mine is now at Getty pulling six figures just to talk to media directors all day and he didn't go to no Oxbridge. That's for sure.

:ehh: it aint what you know, it's who you know.
Right? You would think a bunch of Oxbridgians would have hooked him up with a gig here in the states. I asked if Oxfordbridge has a jobs board (lol) and he says all the postings are for people that have coding skills. He's def not a coder.

CTE
so let me get this straight-
top of his class undergrad
goes straight into his MBA at oxford/cambridge
graduates with high marks from one of the finest institutions in the WORLD
and cant find a job :mjpls:
:duck:

so did he go straight into his grad program from undergrad? i heard that most MBA programs want some field experience from candidates
with a masters, you can teach, etc. no reason to be unemployed.

you sure he doesnt have a debilitating drug problem? :mjpls:

I'm sure there's a point to this story.
