I've heard people say "graduated from Oxbridge" before to refer to someone who's graduated from one of the many separate colleges that make up Oxford and Cambridge. It's the equivalent of saying "he graduated from an ivy league" without saying more.

Sorry that you're not aware, breh.

:umad: You would be naive to assume that I am unschooled on English Uni's, kid.

masters from those 2 schools are basically worthless. Maybe not worthless but not as good as a phd or even an undergrad degree from the same school would be. Basically they take too many people into their masters programs in order to make their money since the cheap ass alumni don't give back like they do in america. They get choosey about who they keep on into the phds though.

This thread is not the first time the term Oxbridge has been used.

Man, that's what it seems like. Dude has been reworking his academic writings non stop since he got out.

It's just so strange to see people like him flounder like this. Dude got outpaced by his younger sister. Dude was talking about having to borrow her car and what not. :wow:

Man, I remember when he first got that scholarship. We all thought the guy would be hella paid by now. We used to joke that he would get invited to join the Illuminati over there.

Yeah, I've heard that Oxford & Cambridge are, in certain respects, degree mills for masters students.

So my friend graduated with his masters from Oxbridge last year with a degree in a STEM field.

You figure he's be living the Typical Coli Breh lifestyle, 6 figures, 6 dymes, 6 series.

Nope.

These days he's still in his parents house and unemployed. Blew through his savings and now receives handouts from his parents from time to time.

Dude says the only decent gigs are in finance and boring ass management consulting. Apparently those positions aren't all what they're cracked up to be. A lot of the salaries in those positions have been dialed down since 2008. They aren't paying like they used to.

He's tried looking for work outside of those fields and more along with his major but nobody wants to hire him because he's "overqualified" and has no experience outside of academia.

Apparently the only connections he's made we're with people that have chosen to remain in the UK and go into finance.

It was kinda wild to hear that he's in such a position. Dude's family is connected to a couple MNCs and he still can't get a gig. I mean, he's even good looking, too.

Maybe there's a part of the story that I'm missing, but then again, he could very well just be a victim of the times, despite all his advantages.

:manny:

Ox or bridge? they aint the same place you know. this dude sounds like a sucka
