In her mid 80s, I know she only has like maybe max 10 years left. I rarely see her, she's going to Florida with some old hags for the winter, and since I live near the airport I'll be driving her there.
Shes beaten breast cancer, diabetes, hypertension and still going strong.
Just made me lasagna and curry goat , that's my grandma
To Grandmothers...
I remember back when i was a kid,every weekend,she would take me to Toys R Us. It was like our tradition. She would buy me a toy every weekend. She'd buy me WWE toys,transformers,star wars,damn.... i miss being a little kid.....life was so much more simple back then.

If it wasn't for my grandma, my spirituality would be tore up from the floor up.Not to paint mom's in a bad light, but grandma was the real mccoy.She grew up in the civil rights era and was a regional director for the Black Panthers(west coast), so she always had that militant side.It's still there, but I guess she was crazy militant back in the day.To the point where my mom rebelled and went to go live with her pops.Just from my perspective, she would've been better off listening to grandma.My grandpa was cool, but he was a street cat.Lived in the hood and let his kids do whatever they wanted.Had my moms on some 5% shyt before there was a 5 %.Conscious, but slightly rebellious.Wanting to do street shyt like smoke a lil weed/drink a lil drink.
But yeah, grandma is a riot.She's kinda paranoid and thinks the FBI is still watching her.She told me how they used to "ride" on "hypocrites" back in the day.I guess when they would find out a nikka was undercover FBI, they would confront him, and beat his/her ass.I used to laugh at a lot of her old pictures from that time period.Grams was always rocking a natural and a leather coat.I remember being like "grams, what's up with all these leather coats?

And it went back to "riding" or, as she called it "pulling a doozy on a nikka".

She even worked as a cook for Elijah Muhammad back in the late 60's/early 70's.Like someone already stated in the thread, definitely a walking history book....with a A+ sense of humor.

My grandma is trill as fukk... She's a functioning alcoholic, but she's great still. I sent her 250$ bottle of wine for Christmas
So is mine. She's my favorite her ole crazy ass always got a story to tell.

My grandmother and great grandmother on my pops side are both alive but Im not really that close to them
or that side of my family
Both grandfather and great grandpa both passed when I was young but they were both divorced and in another state
On my moms side...
never knew my grandpa, but my grandma and I were close when I was growing up
She passed 5 years ago
It hurt brehs
I hadn't spoken to her in almost a year
(she moved to the east coast to be closer to most of the fam & I was in college)
All I have is memories and anger at myself for not picking up the phone to call her

I couldn't stand my mom and pops growing up...
still cant honestly
But my nany had 3 daughters to raise on her own and still managed to get her bachelors degree in nursing
shes my inspiration
All her kids do is make excuses about life

but always has something to say about someone else...
Spend time with the ones your closest to brehs
Dont let someone leave earth without telling them how much you love them

Grandparents are god's gift to the world! As another poster said, walking historians!
Both of my parents' parents have passed but my god-grandparents (who live in Maryland) are still around. My grandmother who is 80 has recently been in and out of the hospital; I felt so blessed to have seen her over the Chirstmas break! My god-grandparents have been married for 55 years and still love one another to this day! It's beautiful they way I've seen them care for one another throughout the years.
Two years ago for mother's day, I bought my grandmother a journal and asked her to write any and everything she knows and wants to share w/ me! Should anything happen to her, I'll cherish that journal forever!
