So my hardrove in my laptop is basically done. Everytime I turn it on it takes 15 mins then prompts me to save everything and replace ASAP.

I had it for over 4 years now.

Should I cop a new one ( any recommendations ) or should I upgrade my current one.

I don't game on my laptop. Just movies+programming + and school work.

If anybody has knowledge, please drop it.

Backup everything ASAP, if you still can (obviously), and buy a 500gb Samsung Evo SSD (it's going for around $200, give or take, on Amazon)
You don't need a new laptop.

Backup your data and replace your HDD, go with Western Digital
Do you guys mind debating WD vs Samsung? If not no big deal, just curious. I'm familiar with WD but that's just by walking through best buys.

More importantly, should I upgrade anything else since I'm going to be opening up my laptop ?

Should I do it myself or pay someone?

I appreciate the knowledge

WD is great at making HDDs and Samsung is great at making SSDs. If you're going with a traditional hard drive, then go WD. If you're going for speed and an SSD (which I highly recommend), get a Samsung.

It's real easy to install a hard drive. Just YouTube a video, you can do it in like 5 minutes.

Since the computer is 4 years old, you might want to get some more Ram (8gb at minimum). That's also very easy to install in minutes. Just YouTube it.

WD has no SSD, if you want an SSD go Samsung. If you want HDD go WD

You won't be taking your laptop apart, just opening up a cover to get to the HDD

According to the link PCworld if you have 6gbs, I think that's fine
