fukked up situation but this is why we need a more robust welfare state with adequate child benefits, maternity leave, etc.

if you want to keep child poverty low the way to do that is through providing good child benefits. countries like norway, sweden, and finland have similar rates of single motherhood as the US, but their child poverty rates are way lower. The US is actually at the BOTTOM of the OECD world in social expenditures on child-related family benefits.

there are going to be fathers and mothers who end up raising their children alone. bottom line
as a country we need to provide better support for citizens who find themselves in this situation.

you can shame the father/mother all you want but that does nothing to provide for the child which is what you should be mainly concerned about in these situations.

I actually agree with your sentiments but I get the impression that most posters believe that the man in question is white or nonblack.
