Nothing wrong with it imo

Track 1 cops court side tickets for the low to see Embid vs Lonzo:gladbron:

Both players are healthy

Get to game both are sitting out along with Ingram, Simmons, & Fulks because they are eliminated from playoffs. No need to play them.

Track 1 leaves before the national anthem:pachaha:

Pat Riley's idea is better than that even tho i didnt care for his idea much but i could see it working

Pat Riley: Have a separate playoff-like Tournament for the losing teams where the winner gets the top pick and slot them accordingly from there

I don't like that idea. You would see guys on teams purposely losing so a top pick doesn't take their spot.

1st and foremost draft position should not be determined by your team loses. It should be based on how well the team played over the last 25 or 30 games. So when the season ends whatever teams that missed the playoffs who has the better record over the last 25 games get the most ping pong balls.

Also 8th seeds should not be punished for trying to make the playoffs. They should be included in the lottery.

This system would make almost every game down the stretch count. March/April games would mean something for every team. Hell u would see bad teams making trades at the deadline to compete instead of taking salary dumps:mjgrin:

*based on last two months

1.Por 17-6
2.Mia 14-8
3.Den 13-9
4.Bulls 11-11
5.NO 11-11
6.BK 11-13
7.Cha 10-12
8.Dal 9-14
9.Det 8-14
10.Ny 7-15
11.Orl 7-15
12.Sac 7-15
13.Min 7-15
14.LAL 7-14
15.Phx 6-16
16.Phi 6-17

Teams would not shutdown players. So a lot of the teams listed above record could be even better.

I doubt the NBA would do this, but man even a early March or late April game between two bottom feeders would mean something.

Thoughts or tweaks:feedme:
I seem to remember you actively cheering the Lakers tank process for the last 5 years. Now you want tanking to stop? :usure:

U got me:hubie:

But I can watch the Lakers no matter what. But having league pass the last month and a half is the worst shyt ever for the other teams that suck. They either are resting or barely playing their best players. I just think it would be dope to see wack ass teams with meaningful games:yeshrug:

You can't picked better than 2 spots the year you picked before. And it resets after you pick outside the top 5.

If Philly had the #1 pick in 2016, then next year (2017) the best they can pick is # 3...and then if they get the #3 pick in 2017, the best they can pick is number #5 in 2018.

I don't mind the concept of tanking but it's not right or fair for one team to constantly keep getting the top picks in the draft. They not the only team that sucks. Spread that shyt around. And realistically if you get a pick in the top 3 in 3 straight drafts and still isn't in a position to compete for the postseason then that's on your gm...

3 years isn't that long of a rebuild, and plus teams are gonna be trash anyway
incompetent front offices is a bigger issue

Exactly. Incompetent FOs have to rely on the draft as a "quick" answer to their mediocrity, while they could be scouting the D-League, overseas, building a good system, etc. Yes we know the Spurs tanked and good lucky with Duncan, but they hand an extremely competent FO that allowed them to get players low in the draft/overseas/undrafted ones, hell they traded George Hill for a top 5 player now. And how many high picks were wasted on busts?

Relegation.

Kick the Knicks to the D-League and see if that don't make Dolan smarten the fukk up.

:mjcry:

But low-key you're right. I'm not fully aware how it works here in Europe with football but that treath of relegation is real.

One way or another, mediocrity should not be rewarded

I have no idea how relegation would realistically function in America with basketball.

I just like the idea that if you are trash, you don't belong playing with the most competitive teams.

You do get that's how the concept of the current draft works.....right?

what you do is something like every 2 years you take the teams with the 5 best regular season records and throw them into the lottery with some lottery teams and those 50 win teams get a chance to get a lottery pick...

So say you have the lottery and the top 5 picks are 76ers, nets, knicks, suns, mavs...

You have another lottery and you add the spurs, cavs, warriors, celtics, houston into it and you pick again...

Let a lottery team lose their lottery pick to a great franchise even one time and that will put an end to all that tanking shyt...cause if you do it two years in a row you might lose your pick to a really good team.

As a smart, driven, successful person, I am NOT a fan of any system that rewards incompetence, stupidity, and laziness, and that is exactly what the current nba draft does...the worst you run your franchise and the worse decisions you make the more likely you are to get into a position to draft a great player...

Something is wrong with a system in which a team like the spurs have won 50 + games for going on two straight decades and they have picked in the lottery exactly once...philly has more lottery picks IN A ROW than the spurs will have IN 20 YEARS...

There are usually legit good teams that don't make the playoff. They'd run through the bad teams and get the number 1 pick.

watching a game on tv is infinitely better than being in the building to me..

I don't know why I fee that way but I do... and I've literally had court side seats before.. rather watch with commentary and breaks :manny: anyone else agree?

its like that with a lot of things too, not just sports...

no idea what that had to do with this thread...
