Got my Non-Expiration A+ in 1999. It has helped me land many jobs over the years, and gives you a foundation. I've done many tings since then... but the A+ is always good to have.

Imma drop a thread soon, but get it. fukk all the stuff people talmbout. If you have time to be choosy, you can punch out a higher goal and aim for a different cert.

However, A+ is one of the easiest certs to study for in your free time, and it instantly opens you up to all the starting positions. Now obviously it depends on your

area and what the tech market is looking like, but having that and a solid resume and cover letter out there should get you work. Hell, apply now even if you

don't have any certs. All I am saying is, thanks to my cert, I snagged a job with hella benefits, tons of OT, and room to grow since the IT dept is still in its infancy.

To think, before the A+, I was applying for Help Desk jobs paying $12-14 an hour:francis:I shot WAAAAAAAAY past that. Just get that cert and get on your grind.

It's pre-require for the rest of CompTIA, so if you don't , all the rest are cut off. If you don't already have experience with everything on it, I would go and get it. It's a good foundation to build off of if you're light on experience and formal training. Plus, it's easy, and good to get an entry level position to build experience with.
Nah I don't think it is at all.

I know a lot of people without A+ that got Sec+

Again.. If you want to thats on you bruh. Homie is saying it changed his life, I been in it much longer than he has and I'm saying nobody ever asks for that shyt.. Not even some helpdesk positions require it, especially if you got certs or experience in something else.

If you just need a helpdesk job right now then go for it. It's literally the only thing an A+ will get you or some shyt at bestbuy. It won't hurt to have but not worth wasting time on if you got some knowledge and a general idea of what you want to do in IT..

I suggest taking a Udemy course on it and seeing if its worth it

It is. I have A+ and Network+. A+ is more or less a must to go further in the CompTIA system. There may be a few exceptions, but I don't known of any personally.
