Communication is vital. Also, how much time have you put in with the job? You have to look at if your attendance has been spotty recently, what has resolved the situation that will result in your attendance record changing? They will look at that as a big factor.

OP probably probably works at a job like a plant or warehouse where even if he is communicating management dgaf

Like someone else said you can’t be forced to sign anything, but know that it’s on your record (at work) and step one of them getting you out the paint. I don’t know if you’ll want your job after this because they’re gonna start leaning on you and analyzing EVERYTHING you do while at work. You can turn it around, but if your situation at home hasn’t changed, you need to find a way to be at work and on time.

Better get on that job search and leave on “good” terms.

The biggest concern I have is the “ my attendance has been shooty the past 4 months” . I’m trying to figure out what that means to you because it might mean something entirely different to them. It’s unfortunate but when folks hire us they expect us to be there. Folks don’t care about family problems .. they just want your body in a seat or standing. You obviously don’t want to share your personal issue and I respect it. This may or may not be something the union can help with … sometimes even they have to fall back. I wish you the best.

U never have to sign write ups
You don’t have to sign but by refusing to comply you give your employer all they need to fire you on the spot for insubordination.

Stop spreading old wives tales that end up getting nikkas jammed up.

Aren't most states at will where the company can fire you for any reason? Looks like all they have to say is termination is performance based union or not imo. Probably wrong though

Nah only 14 out of 50 and that number will probably shrink with workers rights coming back to the forefront

What do you mean by shotty? Are you calling in or no showing. What is the situation you are dealing with that they don't consider important?

I've been calling out. I've never no showed. But the situation is with a family member.. I dont really wanna disclose all of that but its been life or death for the past 4 month and I have the hospital records. An FMLA loophole excludes me coverage
