Aye man you’re in the marines right? I’m currently in nrotc and second guessing this navy shyt. I’m thinking of trying to switch to the marines. You got any advice you could drop on a young brother? I’m real close to doing it
I’m not worried about the physical requirements or nothing either. I can run 3 miles in 20 in my sleep.

You NROTC? You must be close to graduation then right? Yall dont have to choose a branch until junior year summer right?

Was AAROTC but ik some guys that went your route

:picard: Non army here but y’all make Hood sound line hell

It’s a very large base so the personality is very city like and decentralized. There aren’t as many eyes on everyone so people that act up as civilians will continue to act up in uniform lol. Most divisions are tens of thousands of personnel and ft Hood has several divisions worth of personnel

I’m in my junior year on a nursing contract I signed my sophomore year

idk man I just don’t like the navy culture. I dont like how separated enlisted and officers are. I don’t like the “gentleman” culture. It’s been too easy. I don’t like how some of my fellow cadets think they’re better than enlisted and shyt.

I want to push myself as hard as I can, some of the best officers I’ve met so far have been marines and my pops was in there. I had an uncle who retired as E9 master guns as well

I wish I did army rotc first, but I don’t think switching like that is an option for me anymore. I had some friends who just finished advanced camp and that’s the kinda shyt I want to do

Unless you plan on doing 20 years and retiring out of the USMC, go Navy. Much easier transition to civilian life, especially occupation-wise.

You signed-on to be a Corpsman?

I’m not sure how long I want to be in, but going for 20 makes the most sense in today’s climate. How many jobs are going to be offering retirement and benefits like that for my gen? Not many at all

I may be wrong, but I thought transition to civilian life and finding a job as an officer was going to be a easy transition itself just because of the leadership credentials that come with being a military officer?

and I signed a contract to be a nurse. I’m contracted in nrotc

Bolded is extremely contingent on your military career field and whatever civilian career field ur going for. Do not fall into the trap of never improving your career skills just because youre an O.

I will say some big tech firms like AWS and MS have exec programs built to pipeline officers who have held command into mgrs

Only if that Officer's MOS translates smoothly into the civilian sector. If not, you'll have to get a couple Certifications/Degrees while you're in so your educational achievements are boosted by your Service experience. That's why I got a couple Accounting Certs while I was in the USMC. When I got out, went right into AP/AR/Bookkeeping positions.

Check this out.....
