I may be talking out of my ass about big law but as far as IB, once you get past your first year as an analyst 100% of base as a bonus is not uncommon. Even the middle performers are looking at something like 80-90 base and 75-85 as bonus, which is close enough.

Hmm that must be for higher ups i guess. My soon to be sister in-law works for a pretty big law firm and she makes 210k a year. Her signing bonus was 30 and her yearly bonus is 40. I cant imagine her yearly bonus being 210k

$210K..sounds like she's a third year associate. She probably maxed this year at 60k yearly bonus.

It wasn't even like that in the mid-2000s peak

Nah.. no one is getting 100% base salary even in biglaw. 5th years are getting 100K and by that time, if you're not on a partnership trak or "of counsel" then it's faneto. They tell you that your services are no longer needed and ship you off to work for a government agency or corporation.
I wouldn't trust any of these finance or "big banks" for employment stability right now.. make 200K today and they get sued for billions in money laundering and insider trading violations by tomorrow
