I think you have to tell them like it is......Life is going to be more of a challenge for you as a person of color.....but whatever anyone else says don't let them convince you that you're not as important or as worthy as someone else.....everybody is equal... go to school and learn all you can......Treat everybody with respect, even if they don't return the favor....If nothing else, then walk away.....
EXACTLY what i will tell my daughter....

I mean... I guess in extreme examples, sure. There's even a thread where I call my own pops a c00n, but he's family so I feel entitled to do so (and he really is a c00n so it's different).

But I think being on the Coli has taught us, probably to our own detriment, that it's ok to go around calling each other c00n. I dunno, I just think it's not the business.

if the white man is going to stereotype like its nothing than so can we breh

anyone who thinks that a black child will "grow out of" not liking the color of their skin while still remaining in the conditions that made them not like the color of their skin, is simply deluding themselves.

take a look around at the black community, take a look at social media, look at the darker females who apply filters to their pictures to make their skin appear to be lighter than it actually is, look at the hundreds of dollars spent FOR A SINGLE BAG OF INDIAN HAIR, and tell me if Black people are "growing out of" self hate.

black women being sold hair via Instagram, hashtag #bundles

they're NOT, they just internalize it and learn to cope with it.

the problem needs to be stopped EARLY.

It has to be instilled in the child early! I can remember my parents making me do book reports on Black inventors and buying me black dolls and American Girl books about the slave Addy...They bought me Uncles Jed's Barbershop and other culturally based books..These children won't know unless we teach them and Black History Month once a year won't cut it

when I say "our own schools", I don't mean schools that are a part of the government funded public school, but rather a Black privately owned school with Black curriculum.

Black children would go to these schools beginning at kindergarten and ONLY be taught by Black teachers, and girl students and women teachers would NOT be permitted to wear their hair permed nor would the teachers be able to wear colored contacts.

The same nikkaz that are dissing you, are the same nikkaz who  for Oprah all black girl school in Africa.

nikkaz in the Coli just love to argue, just to be arguing.:mindblown:

But most of these so call black poster are really white dudes in front of their computer screen. And just getting their :troll: on. :yeshrug:

You and her parents need to reinforce positive thoughts and positive self image to her. It wouldn't hurt to also have her around kids that look like her. Its nothing wrong with exposing children to all types of people. That is what the world is like. She just needs a strong sense of who she is and that it is nothing wrong with that. It's the other racist people that were mean and crazy :mjpls:
