Meh I am not a fan of Boston tbh, tons of better college towns to live in for a young cat trying to build himself up. Too cold, expensive, and don't like the attitude up there either.

@Looney...yeah jobs might be an issue depending on what kind of degree you have. Highly competitive when you have damn near half of the residents having at least a bachelors degree. Then again even with a combined income of about 70-80K+ you would be living REALLY comfortable

Great points. And I will add that there are a whole lot more opportunities for New Yorkers outside NY than in NY. People, such as mid-westerners, really value New Yorkers - they like to hire them. My bros didn't become extremely successful until they left NYC for corporate gigs. They were making nice change in NYC(50-70k) but it wasn't until they left NYC that they started balling out of their minds(75K and up, beamers, houses, started businesses). Now they fly/drive to NY several times a year and ball out their mind - eating at the best restaurants and catching up with broads. They would be struggling to pay rent in Manhattan(where we are from originally) if they had stayed.

Yeah, people don't really seem to understand that all it takes is a little planning to get things moving in the right direction and sometimes it takes leaving a place to see through that plan.

Let's rephrase the classic Stephon Marbury quote now:

"You're too caught up on New York, get caught up on life". Some people are way too caught up in the city and believe that hustling/grinding 24/7 is good and eventually will get them in a better position. Sadly it does not work out that way for everyone.

If wifey and I dont get a gig out of NYC by June we are fleeing to NC, no jobs.

We both have little remote freelance things getting off the ground, and I am going to start asking around next week if I can start working part time + remotely for NYC companies from NC. Maybe travel up to NYC 1-2 times a month and stay with fam. Take the NYC money down south with me.

Sometimes you just gotta jump. No future for us here brehs. Pray for me

Very metropolitan for a Southern city and you have access to good beaches, Atlanta, Charlotte, ACC tournament, Duke, UNC basketball. Sistas down there are on the low Very educated sistas out there. Weather is on point.

My biggest problem with New York/New Yorkers in general is this obsession with renting. It makes zero sense to me. You can get a crib like this for 295K

Thankfully I have an engineering degree+military perks that I rather not mention here so I can make 75K in NYC easily when I get out. But those in NYC with regular degrees or worst - no degree at all You better hope your networking game is top notch.

It started with the demolition of a ton of bad neighborhoods downtown to build stuff for the Olympics and then continued with Little Five Points slowly poking its dikk into East Atlanta.

Midtown, Cabbagetown, and pretty much everything around West Ponce is firmly gentrified. Even Bankhead is starting to get artist communities.

The poor blacks are mostly in Clayton County and the areas around College Park nowadays.

It's happening everywhere. DMV ppl can speak on this. My thing is since it's inevitable, black people who are able need to get their hands on some of these properties. A lot of the gentrification in New York is coming from people who never OWNED the places they were residing in. That's why I'm advocating relocation for a better life. Instead of renting for 10 years plus, come down south, buy a place and make your money work for you. You can own a home, send your kids to quality schools and potentially start a business or at least buy some properties with all that money these guys are blowing in rent.

None of this is easy but all PRO's New Yorkers state are things that for the most part are irrelevant. Good you can set the MET, but when have you actually gone?

When have you been to all these museums, landmarks, etc? Cool your food trucks have been on the Food Network. I'm sorry the shh these dudes are biggin up is some child's play shh. None of it has to do with ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OR ADVANCEMENT. Just a bunch of entertainment
