Could be a multitude of things, but anytime your stool is abnormal, you should consider getting checked.
If it's dark blood, it's more than likely coming from your upper GI area.
Bright red blood is "fresh," and while scary, it's usually not as alarming and is a lot more common - typically caused by hemorrhoids, anal fissures, ect.
It may be nothing major, but no one can be certain so it's best to tell your mother and get checked by a professional.
Generally if you can't produce a stool sample, an attending is putting the gloves on and reaching straight up into your soul, so prepare yourself.

Get checked immediately. Unless you had a bunch of blackberries, it's probably internal bleeding which can be a result of a lot of things.

Pepto causes it to be black, same with other meds.

Could be blood, if that's the case get a colonoscopy asap (have fun with that ).

Could just be your diet.

Probably should go to a gastroenterologist and give em a stool sample to see if it's blood. That's what I'd do first at least.

Thus, your poop will come out black. It turns your tongue black too.
