Short, strong, and quick is beast mode athleticism. I'm sorry you ran into bad luck man. Leg injuries can ruin sports dreams. They're so hard to come back from. One of the best soccer players I worked with had those attributes. His dad saw me coaching, I was the only black coach in my city, so he walked up to me and told me his son started playing fifa and wanted to play soccer.

I was against it until I saw this kid move on the field. He used to play football. His speed was explosive. He could accelerate so quickly. Real talk, I'm fast. I'm a grown ass man. He was 11. His first step was faster than mine. After that I'd smoke him obviously. He could out jump anybody in his age group in our club too.

Field awareness was poor, but he was so strong it didn't matter. Pulling on his jersey didn't stop him. He played through contact. That's rare in soccer. nikkas love to flop. His reflexes were freakishly quick.

If I showed him a move he could use it in a game by the end of practice. I don't think I saw him fall or stumble once. I hate clumsy players. He could run all day too.

I told him to stop playing football immediately and focus on soccer because he could easily go pro. Thing is soccer is expensive to play. Unfortunately he couldn't afford it. Poor kid. Crazy part is I didn't teach him much other than the rules and some jukes. He learned how to play soccer from playing a video game. He's a genius and he doesn't even know it.
Hope you can find a way to help the kid get back in it.

I plan on putting my kids in more than just basketball and football. I got football genes though, both my dad and Grandad set records in HS and they were short cats and my sister/cousins/aunties were all gymnasts so we got some freakish genetics. My lil sister is a black belt in TKD and my younger cousin was a beast in football and was going to marines until he blew out his knee... Now he's a cop but still.

I played soccer for a lil while in military (intramural) and loved PLAYING (not watching) but that was too much running for me (I played outside mid field.. No clue what that was called). My legs were getting bad then as well

I also used to go with my homie and watch the pee wee league football games (both his sons played, one was really good). So I wish lil homie could get back into soccer. I guess it's not as easy to play in the states as it is overseas

Your family is breeding soccer players. Seriously all those sports translate into soccer well. In America we don't have scouts so millions of kids don't get found. The US also doesn't have an academy system. In Europe they'll pay for your child's schooling from like the age of 7 until they age out the program or go pro.

The position you played was wide midfield. You were what we call the driver and engine. Midfield controls the game. They're the brain. The team plays as well as the midfield does. It's the bridge between offense and defense as well as the back and front line.

I suggest buying your kids a soccer ball to kick around. Soccer is the world's easiest sport, I swear to god. The hard part is fitness and having no off season. Soccer is year round. Get your kids in rec level soccer. It's cheap you don't need nothing fancy. Just cleats and shin guards. See how they move on the field. Ask the trainers what they think. Trainers build players and coaches build teams. They keep it simple. If your kid can play or has potential they'll tell you. All that ball juggling and fancy dribbling doesn't get used in matches. We only teach that so people have perfect touches and perfect balance. It doesn't mean much.

Soccer scholarships for girls are available and hot right now because the US women's soccer team just won the world cup. I really wanted the kid, Jason, to stay with me my whole coaching career so I could make sure the right eyes saw him. I had a huge falling out with my club over money. I did try to do as much I could for him though.

Yeah I don't have kids now... But if I do there's a couple sports I want them in before HS..

Soccer and gymnastics are the main 2.

Then they can choose whatever after that.

But yeah, my roommate was the midfielder.. I was just on the outside midfielder and I swear I never ran so much playing in a sport, even playing basketball. But I was also doing my military shyt and weightlifting as well so maybe I was tired more idk... Plus my leg shyt started getting worse at that point.

But my roommate was nice af though... Best player on the team. Scrawny kid no taller than me but could run forever. He was nice and basically the captain.

But yeah, I'm gonna put my kids in soccer first, maybe gymnastics whether boy or girl. I respect gymnasts almost more than any other sport aside from boxing though... Soccer is cool tho. I also boxed as a kid as well. Got back into it once I had surgery on my leg because it was mostly short, quick movements and not really as much wear and tear on the legs in regards to training and staying in decent shape

Lol that muscle was slowing you down. You were training like a football player when you should have trained like a marathon runner. Soccer wears your body down. Keep that in mind if your kids get serious about it when you have kids. Rest is so important. Don't over train them when they're young. They should play ALL positions and not a fixed position until they're like 12.

I also played CM. Typically the better players play that position. We don't get the glory because we don't score a lot. But we run the most and touch the ball the most. PG's in basketball make great soccer players because they're play makers. Playmaker and finishers are what matter in competitive soccer.

I suggest TKD, soccer, and gymnastics. Those sports translate into other sports well. Soccer translates into basketball and volley ball very well. That's my professional advice. Props for planning your family man. I respect that so much.

I was definitely training like a football player lol. I was just used to training like that... That was my zone imo. I was training for strength and explosiveness only. I played soccer because my roommate talked me into it. I learned to respect it though. Soccer is no joke. CM is NO JOKE and no, he didn't get the props but if you play you know the CM is the most active nikka on the field. I couldn't have done it in the kind of shape i was in.

I was definitely bulkier than most nikkas but I was still quick so I got by.

And actually, I started in TKD before boxing as a kid. I played a lot of different sports actually.. But I was a natural at football and I think that was more genetics. But I didn't like football as much as basketball and boxing.. Even now.

But like I said, my baby sister is a fukking Black belt in TKD and nice with it as well... She wants to get into boxing now so I show her things here and there.. She's talented in everything she does tho. It's crazy. She's the one with the engineering scholarship.. Straight shytting on my childhood :wow:

And she did gymnastics too just didn't like her school she was in it with.

But yeah, that's why I said I want to start them out in soccer/gymnastics first. Then they wil have a solid foundation in anything they want to do or even if they don't want to play shyt. It's still good training to have.

Can you still go pro if you want? That'll be dope to go overseas and run shyt if you could. And I plan on being financially stable enough to put my kids in whatever they want... Also in raising money. My sis raised like 5G for her engineering program out here in atl this summer.. Pretty much on her own.

Your family is black and excellent. Genetics is real shyt. Lmao he recruited you. He knew you'd be a beast in the midfield. Football players are ferocious and savages. Fearless too. Soccer players can be very selfish and bytch made. Jason played in the midfield too.

Your sister is a genius. Don't ever let her forget it. TKD is the shyt. People don't know how gully practitioners of TKD are. Everybody should train boxing. Basketball is so much fun. I just suck at shooting.

Beautiful thing about soccer is, yes I could still go pro. I wouldn't play for some world famous club but I could find a team. There are over 300 professional clubs in the world. The skills never leave. I'm just focusing on being a chef now.

I'm 26, I wanted to play in Mexico, then in Europe. I honestly believe if I got back in shape I could play soccer in the US or Africa. I was training with the UC Berkeley Men's soccer team and u25 international players here in the states. I know some of them are pro and are playing for the national team. Maybe I could have made it, who knows?

Lol thing is playing soccer here is like playing basketball in Italy or Spain. It's not the highest level of the sport. I wanted to put on for this country in the best leagues. We ain't got no respect on our name.

I wish I had a big bro like you growing up. I would have achieved my big dreams. Keep being supportive man. It means a lot and money can't buy real support.

Dap + rep for everything bolded.

They really are the definition of black excellence. I often feel like I was a waste of potential... Still feel that way. Me and my older cousin was always comparable in everything we did... But she had a more stable life than I did even though her dad was in jail most her life. Her mom stayed on her ass and now she's a doctor while I became a high school dropout pursuing artistic dreams.. Eventually going military and settling in IT

But yeah, my sister basically copied everything I did and perfected it. I hope she stays on the path because she's destined imo. She's into arts, engineering, combat sports, etc. but she's only as good as her support system and they've been doing better with her than they ever did with me... But I'm not even mad. I'm a grown man that made my choices... I'm excited more about her future more than my own

She's inTKD, she's artistic, she learning music, and she's a deans list student at her school. Doing everything I failed at and tbh... I'm happy. She's like the child I was supposed to have and literally old enough to be my kid. If my dad passes she's staying with me Idgaf.

And she just might be a genius.. She's always asking questions.. It's crazy honestly.. Or she may just be a hard worker but I tell her all the time it's not what you know but what you understand.

And i dont know if my roomie was recruiting.. We was just cool af and a lot of cats on the team sucked.

But yeah bro you seem you come from excellence as well. I wish I had a lil bro like you as well because you would've had nothing but support. If that's still your dream go for it, if not anymore, you'll still be successful because you know what it takes. If feel like you have a lot of bitterness from your experiences and I understand that.. But I learned a long time ago that that's just a deterrence. Pursue your dreams or help someone else do the same

I know exactly how you feel man. I know under different conditions with my work ethic and ability I could have done more. You're not a failure bro, you're a fukking champion. You're helping create a dynasty. All kids need to be put in positions to succeed. Sometimes our parents just don't have the tools to do that.

she's only as good as her support system
Exactly. She's the product of everyone who's ever helped her or believed in her ability. I believe in energy. People have given her a lot of positive energy. She's just gotta channel it.

But I'm not even mad. I'm a grown man that made my choices... I'm excited more about her future more tha
The fact you consider yourself accountable for your actions makes more of a man and a champion than most so called men walking around who always blame someone else for their shyt.

I do and I'm really going to internalize your advice. It means a lot to me. My big brother isn't shyt. My mom worked a lot. She did all she could, but for my goals I needed more. I, like you, made my own decisions and I accept the results of those decisions. I am really trying to shake off my bitterness because I'm quick to get angry because that fire is still burning. I tried therapy, drugs, and women. Lol didn't help.

I hold too much anger towards soccer to go back. But cooking is my fresh start. It saved my life. I love working with kids and teaching them how to cook. I'd coach soccer again but it'd have to be the perfect situation.

I love helping people eat right and get fit. It makes me happy. I forgot how that felt because I was deep into cocaine, my own feelings, and two crazy demonic bytches.

I got an offer to do kitchen instruction at a camp this summer. I might accept the offer.

Appreciate the luv fam... Whenever you in the A hit me up, we'll grab a drink or 2

I appreciate compliments and everything but that's not my style, I got a long way to go. A lot to do as a brother, son, etc., before I ever think about becoming a father. I'm just talking shyt but I got a long way to go before I consider myself able to raise a kid.

Glad you found cooking as another calling though.. Not too many of us in the nutrition game especially with the youth. You're helping more than you realize. Not too many of us find a second passion as well.. Continue to grow and just go for it (with a plan) is my only advice...

And bitterness only helps if you can use it constructively... If not, it's a waste of energy
